Meet Our Pastor

Our new interim pastor, Michael F. Dwyer, is no stranger to the community. He and George Valley have lived in Pittsford for the past 21 years. Michael taught English and Social Studies at Otter Valley Union High School from 1988 to 2018, and prior to that, at Mount St. Joseph Academy from 1983 to 1988. The Vermont Department of Education named him Teacher of the Year in 2004.

A graduate of Boston College with degrees in English and History, he completed his M.A. at Middlebury College’s Bread School of English. He studied for two years at St John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts. Active church participation and choir membership has always been part of his life.

Michael served as a trustee of the Maclure Library for seven years. A past presenter and member of the Pittsford Historical Society, he lectures frequently on historical and genealogical topics. Named a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists for his published scholarship, he edits Vermont Genealogy, journal of the Genealogical Society of Vermont.

Michael’s parents moved from Florida to make their home in Pittsford, where his mother continues to reside next door to Michael and George. Having filled the pulpit a dozen times last year, Michael looks with great enthusiasm to leading our church which he values as an integral part of our community.
